No, not my own...I am already married, sillies. And no, I am not talking about William and Kate, although I am a little curious about their wedding too.
I am talking about my friend Court's wedding on Saturday, in which I am very honored to be a part of, read: Bridesmaid.
I like nothing better than a good wedding, with good food and good music and a fun crowd. I am hoping this wedding exceeds my expectations, as it probably will.
Festivities begin tonight with the rehearsal at the church & the dinner afterward.
Then tomorrow (I took the day off from work) I pick up my dress (you know, the one that I talked about here that didn't fit) and give my piggies some love (pedicure!).
3-day weekend! Wahoo!
Congrats to the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Lex!

have you seen this?
I have tried my hand at cake pops before, via the recipe of the talented Bakerella (this rad blog I follow)...and it's a little bit tricksy. Even for someone like me who is fairly crafty and good with her hands :) Plus the 'by-hand' recipe is a really, really sweet, because you mix frosting in with the cake mix and then dip it into chocolate or what-have-you.
So...imagine my delight when I discovered this contraption on the interwebs:
Babycakes Cake Pop Maker
Should I buy one? Looks so easy peasy! Cue the singing angels!

Round 2: Santa Claus vs. Easter Bunny.
In 2010 (Round 1) the score was:
Santa Claus 1
Easter Bunny 0
There were many tears for the Easter Bunny last year. The little L-Monster lived up to her nickname that day. She freaked out when it was her turn to visit the Easter Bunny. Cried, red-faced, screaming out Momma when I even dared to sit her on the bunny's lap. If you just heard her cries, you would have thought I was torturing her. It was traumatizing for her and me. Seriously!
Fast forward to Christmas...things were a little better. She mildly freaked, but then when Santa gave her knuckles (not a high five), she was more comfortable. She even let her momma sit her on Santa's lap. Mind you, this was some serious business, therefore there were no smiles in this picture, but I was fine with that...I was tickled as Elmo that we didn't have a meltdown. Hooray!
Now moving along to Easter 2011...we've been talking about the bunny for weeks now. Trying to get Leighton used to the idea and how the bunny would be bringing her some treats, etc. I am feeling good about the whole thing and so we decide to take her to see the bunny last night. Leighton's super pumped the whole way there and when we get there the line is short (sweet!), so there won't be a lot of waiting around. Meanwhile while we are waiting there during the 10 minutes that it took, Leighton is waving and saying 'Hi Easter Bunny' you know, basically being cute and cracking everyone up in line. So, now we're up - and Leighton takes my hand and we walk up. At first she stands there and assesses the situation. She lets me sit her next to the bunny. She takes some of the cutest pictures ever with the bunny - even leaning into it. She's giving hugs, she's giving knuckles, she's talking a mile-a-minute to the bunny....then, her turn is over. And as I try to coax her off the bench, tears spill down her cheeks. She doesn't want to leave. She wants to keep hugging the bunny. After I talk to her and figure out there is no way that I am going to be able to reason with her, I have to pick her up and carry her away. All the while, my heart is breaking and she's calling out to the bunny. Everyone in line is sympathizing and saying 'Awwww'. It was not what I expected at all.
She cried most of the way home until I told her that maybe we could see the Easter Bunny again.
It's a new ballgame folks - with a tie score:
Santa Claus 1

Until December :)

my heart is heavy.
I hate to talk of depressing things, but my heart has been heavy lately. Sadness from what has happened to all those people in Japan, sadness from a post that my friend Kristi wrote here and sadness from just being plain ol' burned out from work. My issues with work do not even compare to experiencing an event in which 9,000+ people were washed out to sea, or having to bury your son at age 3. In fact, it is not even in the same galaxy as these other unfortunate events, and makes me feel ashamed to even dwell on that at all. In fact, it just reminds me of how lucky I am to wake-up in the morning, to kiss my little one's sweet face, to have a job, to be able to visit my family & friends.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in Japan and to all of those who have experienced some type of loss this year so far. Never give up hope. I hope this verse encourages you to keep moving forward.

Fear not; for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, I will hold thee with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

things that make me happy...
The signs of spring over in my hood:
Frosty Boy & A&W drive-in both are open.
Rootbeer float, mmmmmm, good!
Hooray.

what the h-e-double hockey sticks?!
So I picked up my bridesmaid dress last week...brought it home and hung it on the back of my closet door. I purposely have not tried it on yet. I dunno, I sorta had a bad feeling about it.
I manned-up today. Took that bad boy off the hanger and tried it on. Skirt went on first. We are wearing 'separates' for my friend's wedding. The skirt is to the floor, a-line style and it went on fine. Zipped it up and it fit. Only negative thing it was way too long, needs to be hemmed up. Waist was not tight at all (my original fear). I was trying to find a picture of it to post here, but the Alfred Angelo site is bonkers today and keeps giving me an error. The color is cherry red.
So where was I? Oh yeah, the skirt was on...so far so good.
Tried on the top halter style, when I tried to zip it up, this is where it all went so very wrong...here is the top, cute right?
So the boob area is huge and the area right under the boobs is so tight, like too tight to even move. The good part is that I could zip it up. The bad thing is that it felt like I needed to remove (2) ribs to have any room to breathe. So now I ask all of the folks of the interwebs...how in the heck do I lose inches in my ribcage area? I mean is it even possible? Or do I just blame this on my missproportioned body and just get it altered? I dunno what to do.
